Gunners almost perfect in Division 1

The GDMS Gunners dropped just 2 points as they ran away with the 1st Division. This was the Gunners first Division 1 championship since they joined the league as founders in 1980.

Only The Reds managed to take a point off the champions as they played out a goalless draw in June. The key to their success was their defense which conceded just 8 goals all season, goalkeeper Derek Carvill earning a league leading 6 shutouts.

The runners up spot was decided in the final game of the season when Asmis FC got the point they needed in a 2-2 draw against CSMA Strikeforce. A win for the Strikeforce would of seen them take the runners up spot but they had to settle for 4th. Consolation for the Strikeforce was that Michael Chmelicek won the golden boot with 17 goals.

The Reds slow start to the season, where they failed to win any of their opening 5 games, meant that they were always playing catch up, but a late run of form in August allowed them to finish 3rd.
